The problem with your theory is the Bushes tried to take Perry out during the primaries before the last election. They were 100% behind Kay Bailey. Cheney had radio spots running all the time on talk radio. Karl Rove, Karen Hughes, James Baker and Ma and Pa Bush all were pushing KBH.

I do think the Republican establishment is still looking for a candidate because they aren't excited by the current field, but to characterize Perry as a Bush insider is to ignore the animosity that has developed between them over the years.

Tex, this is MAFIA. It isn’t personal. It’s business. Perry is so beholden to the Texas moneymen he can only go so far. And you know that the governor of Texas really wields very little power. The Texas legislature does the doing. So now Texas has a bill to ban sanctuary cities. NOW. How long has perry been governor? If he was so agin’em, why wait until now?
His reelection is directly attributable to the TEA Party AND Sarah Palin, not the gop-e. Why on earth do you think they are trying SO HARD to take her out? Because SHE can beat them. I think she is the ONLY one who can.
