Democratic National Committee Chairman Debbie Wasserman Schultz not only alienated the GOP when she accused the Republicans of wanting to bring back "Jim Crow" because they support voter-ID at the polls, she lined up against the feelings of three-quarters of the country.
A new national telephone survey conducted by Rasmussen Reports finds that 75 percent of likely U.S. voters believe voters should be required to show photo identification, such as a drivers license, before being allowed to vote. The problem for Democrats, who almost universally oppose the idea and are trying to use it to inflame the passions of Hispanic and African-American voters, is that, to most Americansas evidenced by the Rasmussen pollthe idea is just too reasonable to be ignored.
Look at the numbers: Rasmussen found 85 percent support for photo ID among Republicans, 77 percent support among non-affiliated voters, and even 63 percent support among Democrats. The poll also found, not surprisingly to anyone who understands the American electorate, support for such a law is high across virtually all demographic groups. Also I don’t think we should have early voting, or absentee except for the disabled. And definitely no online voting.
There's two camps: 1) Those who are outright partisans, but pretend otherwise, and 2) the brain-dead who echo the party line about disenfranchisement.
I agree that neither of these is rational or convincing to someone who thinks that the franchise should inhere to the citizenry on a one vote to one citizen basis.
It took me a while, but I eventually got it....lol
I am for only American citizens of a certain age with no felonies on their record being able to vote in elections.
However I am not sure that another feel good law is going to accomplish that. The problem is that the kinks are inside the system and the kinks that would enforce the law are the same ones that have been issuing voter id's to ineligible people and sending overseas military ballots out too late for them to be counted, etc.
For instance, Holder sees no problem with the Black Panthers walking around with clubs at the voting places.
We have plenty of laws already, what we need is someone to enforce them and for judges to come down very, very hard on voter fraud. I believe voter fraud is on the same level as treason.
I continue to be frustrated by those who talk republican and vote democrat. Too many well-meaning, generally ignorant people have bought the "democrats are for the little people" or some other similar myth and compassionately vote democrat. But they do have an innate sense of justice and showing an ID to vote seems reasonable.
How could anyone but a cheater (ie democrat leadership) argue against showing a valid ID to vote?
Rat voters might be for it now, but that’s because they haven’t realized that the vast majority of votes for rat politiscum comes from fraudulent votes.
Once the slack jawed idiots figure that out(have it explained with comic books and finger puppets), they’ll be all up in arms against voter ID measures because none of their preferred pols will ever get elected again.
...I want to go farther....American citizens who can prove that they made a positive tax contribution....not a negative one....
...skin in the game, as they say...
...if you are living on welfare, your votes don't count.
Here is the scary part for the Dems - what if most states implement the ID laws and the Dems start to lose elections by sizeable margins and later reviews prove that the ID laws did not suppress poorer voters, but there was an unexplained drop in voter turn out for Dems. One could conclude that in the past the Dems may have used “dead voters”; illegal immigrant voters; snowbird voters who voted in two states; etc; etc and illegally won past elections??!!!!

Our forefathers had the insight to only allow land-owners to vote. I believe Jefferson spoke of the fall of the Roman Empire as testament, that if we went to a true-democracy, eventually, the voters would vote the country out of business, so to speak.
I will take you one even further, and say that I agree with the original voting laws, and ONLY land-owners should be able to vote.
This, to my understanding was abolished, because many citizens were not allowed to own land (women for one) in certain states. This wouldn’t be a problem now, everyone of every sex, creed or color can own land.
Again... skin in the game
The only landowners left are the gov’t. Property taxes see to that.
Well, you do make a point
