Very recently, PayPal has been shutting down sellers that bring in big bucks. They confiscate earnings for some time. Then they harvest your customer's emails from your account to contact your customers.

I snipped a lot of text out of that excerpt, by the way. My “snip” indicators all vanished.

I will not use Paypal. I heard too much about them. I opened an account in 2000, used it once, did my homework on them, and never used it again.

“But here’s the IRONY: PayPal allows ClickBank to sell some of the WORST business opportunity products on the planet and they have the highest refund rates!”

Maybe that’s your answer, right there.

Too many people get ripped off by “get rich quick” internet schemes and PayPal has to keep issuing refunds.

I’m sure that annoys them, no end.

“You know what their reason was? They said my site was a work-at-home business opportunity site and that it violated their terms of service!

This site! => FanPageTrafficSystem.com

I told them that it’s an application that builds iFrame Pages on Facebook. “It’s just SOFTWARE!” But they wouldn’t listen…They froze my account and refused to take my calls.”

That’s the trouble with these online services. They hold your information hostage and there is nothing you can do about any information you give them.

For the life of me, I don’t understand why working from home is some massively blasphemous thing to them. It’s not like you’re embezzling money at all I’m sure. I know about all those scams and suchlike, but it’s not like yours is one of them.

Has Paypal defined WAHBO? There are a number of private business concerns that do offer “business opportunities” for people to carry on “work at home” — which in turn often has a pyramidesque component for evangelizing the opportunities to others. If customized Facebook software counts, could it be because said software also self-advertises “if you would like to use this software too, please click”? It might be the pyramidesque element that Paypal is shying away from.

I feel your pain!

Had the same thing happen to me about 5 years ago.

Was selling online audio books (on Ebay) and all of a sudden (and without any notice or complaints) had my account frozen.

Compared to you (and others) I was lucky.

Those THIEVING BASTURDS (sic) only got me for about $1,200.

After dozens of emails, certified letters and phone calls (never did talk to a human) I gave up as the costs of litigation would have outweighed any remuneration I might have gained by suing.

Sadly, I learned after the fact, that they had been defendants (and loss) in a major class action and this had been SOP for some time and many others had also been ripped off.

Still occasionally buy things on Ebay--and have never any problems when making purchases--but you would never catch me again so much as selling a pencil.

I use PayPal a lot when shopping online but I’m not a business or a seller. Since Ebay bought PayPal things have changed some. Ebay is probably behind most of it because they have to return money to disgruntled buyers on the Ebay site. When I do sell something on Ebay and the money is put in my PayPal account I transfer it as soon as possible. I don’t let it stay in PayPal.

Thank goodness for that site, because I could spend a whole day writing about the shortcomings of Paypal and hardly scratch the surface.

Ebay and its affiliate Paypal have deep pockets, but one day I hope to see Paypal out of business at the very least.

In the meantime, I strongly recommend that you all avoid Paypal. Your money is not safe, and your personal information is not safe.

And if you’ve “never had a problem,” that’s a poor reason to support a company which has caused serious problems for so many people who trusted it. Moreover, there is a real good chance that you WILL have a problem with them when they get around to you.

As for ebay — don’t sell there and don’t use Paypal if you shop there. As a buyer you are permitted to ask the seller if they’ll accept other forms of payment.

If you want to sell, have a look at bonanza.com.

Anytime I encounter an online seller that only accepts PayPal, I look elsewhere. I’ve never liked PayPal or the horse [rest of that omitted] it rode in on.

Anyone give a crap about this?
