One thing is for sure; U.S. Rep. Thaddeus McCotter, R-Mich., wont be backing fellow Michigander Mitt Romney for president.
Mr. Romney and Mr. Obama are not rivals, theyre running mates." McCotter said at a Plymouth, Mich. event held Wednesday afternoon, a day before Romney's arrival in the Wolverine state.
McCotter added:
In the area of cap and trade, the President and Mr. Romney both believe in climate change. In the area of health care, both the President and Mr. [Romney] believe in comparative effectiveness research and government controlling the supply of health care. What you see in the area of the Wall Street Bailout, both Mr. Romney and President Obama believe that the bondholders and shareholders on Wall Street should be held harmless, with no restructuring, no downsizing, no management changes, no equity, and no preparation for future to get capital flowing back again.
A couple of weeks ago, McCotter said he was "seriously considering" entering the presidential race, and this event has sparked further speculation. Why attack a GOP presidential candidate if you're goal is to get reelected to the House?
McCotter’s right.
John Batchelor show
Spoke Thaddeus McCotter, MI-R, re Mitt Romney’s dart into the congressman’s district of Livonia, in Western Detroit, on Thursday 9. Thaddeus McCotter, our guitar wielding rhetorician, is distinctly aiming to enter the presidential contest. Mitt Romney chose to travel to the 11th MI without explanation to the resident Republican congressman or the local GOP office. Romney’s weakness as a GOP candidate — McCotter observes that Romney is not POTUS’s rival, rather Obama and Romney should run together — most outweigh his strengths, and in Detroit the Romney folly of writing a November 2008 NYT op-ed in favor of Motor City destruction is now another Iron Cross around the candidate’s neck: Romney to Motor City: Drop Dead. Combining the McCotter op with the Gingrich collapse with the Romney bail on the straw polls, with the noise from Giuliani and Rick Perry of Texas, the GOP field gets sketchier for the long road to Iowa and New Hampshire in January 2012. The economy looks laughably weak through the Winter and into the Spring of 2012 — Las Vegas land is now worth 15% of its 2007 prices — so there is plenty of room for maneuvering among the GOP wannabees.
Thanks for the tagline.
And now to fix said tagline.
Because he can’t help it. He’s that great.
The people in TM’s district are SO fortunate. He’s awesome. I love it when he’s on Redeye. He blinks and makes everyone look ilke idiots.

Preach it Thad!
LOL!! Thaddeus is my kind of statesman. I don’t agree with everything he backs, but he never hesitates to say what he thinks.
I wish I could find the speech he gave from the floor of the House. He had poster board signs with pictures of cars, lol, and he was cutting right to it, taking the Dem’s and Madame Speaker out with skill and dry humor.
Thanks for the day brightener!
May God raise up Patriots and reveal Statesmen.
Tatt
I am a Thad fan.
HOORAY Thaddeus McCotter! WOOOHOOO!
He is perhaps the most articulate speaker in the House. The many times I’ve heard him on the John Bachelor show he has always been very impressive, in command of his facts, never so much as a prolonged pause, much less any uhs and such. He also speaks at a very rapid pace but always clear as a bell.
He certainly should have been the first choice for the House Speaker’s slot.
If Sarah chooses to run he would be IMO the best running mate, reasonably young, and the perfect man to be president of the Senate with the ‘gravitas’ of a young Dick Cheney. And an ideal successor to Palin. 16 years of that combo would go a long way to bring this country back domestically and abroad.
I like this guy.
Mormonism and Islam aa Brotherhood?
". . . when hes on Redeye."
No Republican is a Conservative and worthy of the Presidency until he flat out says "climate change/global warming" is a Communist plot.
yitbos
I would even settle for the one word version...."NUTS"!
Just sayin'.
He’s on Dennis Miller’s show quite frequently. As Dennis says of “Young Thad”, “I like the cut of his jib”.
