Another question, Lydia: was Philip’s DNA used to prove that Anna Anderson was NOT Anastasia?

To cut the story down to save time, the person known as Anna Anderson/AKA/etc. moved to the United States in the 1960’s. She died there in 1984 and her body was cremated. However, while living in the U.S. she had intestinal surgery done and a tissue sample was taken. This tissue sample remained in storage in the hospital until it was uncovered by painstaking detective work when the Romanov family bodies were found. The Anderson tissue DNA was tested - no match to the Romanovs.

But back in the 20’s and 30’s in Europe when Anna Anderson was pursuing her claim certain of her opponents claimed to have found out that she was actually a Pole named Franziska Schanzkowska. Ms. Schanzkowska has relatives still living in Poland and DNA tests on the hospital tissue sample proved that Anna Anderson was related to them and probably was actually Franziska Schanzkowska.

I recall someone kin to the Romanovs hired a private detective to check her out not long after her story began to get some press.

He basically reported back the facts and they were exactly what they turned out to be.
