I'm told by two reliable sources that Rudy Giuliani intends to run for the GOP nomination for president in 2012. He may throw his hat in the ring soon.
Rudy's theory of the race: In the fall of 2007, he decided he couldn't compete with both Mitt Romney and John McCain in New Hampshire, and disastrously decided to try to pull back there and pitch his tent in Florida. This year, he'll commit everything to New Hampshire, where he thinks he has a good shot at beating Romneywhom he criticized there earlier this week. He then thinks he can beat whichever more socially conservative candidate(s) is left by winning what are still likely to be winner-take-all primaries in big states like California, New York, and New Jersey.
Rudy's message: I'm tough enough to put our fiscal house in order and to protect us from enemies abroad. The U.S. in 2012 is in bad shapelike New York in 1993.

She wont play their game!
Yes onyx. I'm not playing their game either.
She will pick her own VP and if the GOP/RNC want to withhold money, so be it!
Mitt Romney is being rammed down our throats. I'm not voting for him. Never.
Shes the only one who can raise the needed $Billion without their help.
As far as I am concerned, she is the only candidate I will vote for. Voting for RINOs only has the effect of rewarding bad behavior.
I’ll write her name in if I have to.
I’m with you. I have no second choice.
You remember wrong. He has hinted that, if she's in, he's out. He IS a fan.
The author drew the parallel of Giuliani’s loss to Dinkins, then his comeback in the next election. If Giuliani knocks out Romney, it gives conservatives a clear shot at the nomination.
What if, instead of GHW Bush, Reagan had appointed John Connolly as his VP?
In my estimation -- and in hindsight -- Reagan's appointment of GHW Bush as his VP in order to appease the "moderates" was the reason that conservatism lost its momentum in 1988.
Voting for the lesser of two evils has failed over and over again, yet many still have the mindset that it will work “this time”. If the Republican Party continues to court and embrace leftist doctrines, where is the victory? What good can possibly come from a political party that believes that you win by becoming like the enemy?
Right. Sarah and millions of us TEA Party Republicans, along with Indies didn’t go to the polls in November 2010 to vote for moderates!
We need to finish election 2010’s work in 2012 and that means electing Tea Party acceptable conservatives!
I simply do not understand why people think appeasement is a viable strategy. It only emboldens an opposing force. Have we forgotten history? It fails time and time again.
Well, it is after all the REPUBLICAN candidate...you sometimes have to appease the losing side after the primaries...you NEED the other side NOT to stay home.
One man's appeasement is another man's compromise.
I’m wondering where the line is drawn.
My line is drawn. Pragmatism ends at being a political hostage.
Depends on your point of view.
And whether you win. Or lose.
What other side?
The democrats?
I think it is a reference to selecting a VP.
I know, but since when is there a *losing side*? The moderate, pro-abortion side?
That’s not part of the Republican party that I know.
Thats not part of the Republican party that I know.
I could never do that. The day that I vote for a pro-abortionist would be the day I sold my soul to Satan himself. Never.
Right. I won’t vote for any pro-abortion candidate.
The posters haven’t defined the *losing side*.
RINO fight!
Republicans. To keep the party united the best it can, you get a conservative candidate, you get a moderate VP...that keeps most on board. You go Moderate/Moderate, you lose some base, you go Conservative/Conservative, you lose Moderates. All Republicans are going to be needed for 2012...there’s not much room for error.
