Bachmann adviser: 'My misstep' on Palin (Rollins apologizes, sort of!)
Politico ^ | Wednesday June 8, 2011 | Maggie haberman

Michele Bachmann adviser Ed Rollins' response to the sharp criticisms from Sarah Palin's world just now was to "let it go."

But he didn't go quietly, telling me, "I haven't lived in Washington D.C. in 15 years, and I've been taken to the woodshed by the big boys."

[.....]

Of Team Palin's call for a retraction, he said, "What's the retraction? I say she's serious?"

Palin is way out of Bachmann’s league.

Another Beltway bonehead devoid of any common sense or real world perspective. This is exactly the kind of denizen that needs flushed from national politics.
It was abominable judgement on Bachmann’s part to take on this recycled wonk rat.

I’m sure the last thing Bachmann wants is to start a feud with the Palin camp — or Palin’s supporters. It really was a dumb move on Rollins’s part.

I kind of consider this a win for the Palin camp.
His immediate response to their statement shows
that he recognizes the media power she already has.
As far as Rollins himself, he’s another person
with one foot stuck in the past, it’s too bad
Bachmann has anything to do with him.

The Palin camp has put everyone on notice, media
included, “Don’t tread on me!”.

I do not think that it was a misstep. More than likely the attack by Rollins was timed to get the media’s attention back on the race, rather than whether Palin was right about Paul Revere. It seems to have worked.

No such thing as a “misstep”, “misspeaking” or being “taken out of context”.
These guys screw up and tell what they’re REALLY thinking and can’t handle the blowback....

This will backfire on Bachmann a lot more than it will hurt Palin. A lot of folks are on the line between the two, and I think many are clinging to Bachmann based soley on the fact that she has announced.

The main attraction of these two women is that they keep the politics of "personal destruction" to a minimum. Now Bachmann will be seen as "slinging mud at the prom queen" and it's not going to sit very well...those on the line will jump over and support Palin, if and when she announces.

Rollins is a FU and Bachmann should ditch him ASAP.

my guess is that this was no miscalculation, and because of that it cannot backfire. I think mcromney has already pegged her for VP, and she has accepted. If this were the case, there would be only 1 thing standing between him and the nomination....sarah...

I was very favorable toward Bachmann, but this deal will eliminate her from my consideration, unless she moves swiftly to fire Rollins. What an idiot, going before the treacherous MSM and trashing a fellow conservative.

First, this was NOT a misstep. It was a deliberate act intended to help take Palin out.

Second, this isn’t even a half-assed apology, it’s NOT an apology at all.

Last but NOT least, we didn’t need to hear an apology from Ed Rollins today. What we should have heard, YESTERDAY, was Bachmann apologizing and in the same breath.... the immediate firing Ed Rollins.

Bachmann can no longer dig herself out of this... pity.
