It recalls the difference between the U.S. Constitution and the monstrous, unwieldy, enormous (2,000-pages?) constitution of the European Union, the very epitome of decadence; or the monstrous, unwieldy, enormous U.S. tax code that nobody can understand; or the monstrous, unwieldy, enormous Obama health care legislation.
It's the difference between ascendancy and decadence.
Now don’t misunderstand me, I TOTALLY agree that these monstrously long bills are, well, monstrous. And I’m with ya on the EU thing. However, to just pull a number out of the air is absurd. Some legislation DOES require more than 3 pages. That doesn’t mean it’s 2,000 though. It’s just such an utterly random number not based in reason and I just think it’s a gimmick that is a bad one. And we don’t need any more gimmicks. America elected a gimmick in 2008. I don’t want another I don’t care how conservative that gimmick is.
“I think I wont sign any legislation longer than 3 pages is excellent.”
Bills are usually only 3 pages long. The extra 2000 pages are for the giveaways and to hide the pork.
