SHULLSBURG - After weeks of considering the options and the best possible fit for the Shullsburg School District, the board of education decided at a special meeting May 23 to move all teaching staff into the CESA #3 coop for health insurance coverage. The district's support staff and administration are already part of the coop, explained district administrator Loras Kruser.
As a result of the move, which will begin July 1, the district will save a projected $86,654 over the current health insurance plan the district has with WEA, according to Kruser. Rates vary depending on whether staff members select Dean or Medical Associates, and beginning Sept. 1, the employee contribution to the health insurance premiums will climb from 10 percent to 12.
Kruser said the CESA coop offers dual choice with Dean or Medical Associates insurance plans and mirrors the WEA plan so the teaching staff really shouldn't notice a change in coverage, unless the plan they select means a change in physicians to stay in network.
The district has a two-year commitment to the coop arrangement although staff can change plans within the coop during that time.
In other business, the board:
officially approved staff retirement contracts.
approved the purchase of a handicap lift and folding bed at costs of $4,440 and $1,125, respectively.
For the ping list, please.
Several years ago, when I needed two sex-change operations in rapid succession, CESA #3 coop was there for me.
Thank you, CESA #3 coop!
Can't decide who you want to be? ; )
Good news from some of the far more normal, non-radical parts of Wisconsin.
