As long as phone is not making noises, what exactly is wrong with texting in a movie theater? Just how is it distracting to someone else?

How about I shine a flash light in your face the next time you try to watch a movie and we'll see how annoying it is?

The light emanating from the screen of the phone is generally bright enough to distract one from watching the screen and draw the eye towards the new light source. This detracts from the enjoyment of some people. In some areas it is considered extremely rude. In Japan and Korea they have cell phone blockers installed in movie theaters to stop such activity. Think about it... to some people (myself included,) it is the ultimate in rude, self centered behavior.

Besides, it makes you look like an asshole.

The screen is on bright the full time and the clicking of the keys is noisy, if you must communicate take it to the lobby. Why must you insist on bothering others? Your rights to communicate end where my rights to enjoy the movie begin.
Society is being run into the ground by people who think they have the right to be rude. And that is what cell phone users do, they are rude. They believe they have the right to be loud, obnoxious idiots who can call and text and chat all they want. They are wrong.

At the cost of a theater ticket now days I don't want YOU doing anything to distract ME from my paid movie going experience. You distract me and I will let the management know that you are being a pest and a distraction and if they don't attempt to eliminate the distraction (whatever it is you're doing) then they don't need my business.
You want to do something other than watch the movie then leave the theater.

Extemely irritating as I can see your little blue screen. Want to text, stay the F at home. I didn’t pay $30 to look at your text screen.
