Where do you get that this was a “female in the shipboard culture”? In similar prior stories they were never shy about remarking the relationship was within the chain of command. But reading this story they are silent on the party of the second part.

Since the carrier is in port for maintenance, for all I can see this could just as easily be a carhop at the local A&W.

Better story at link below. The improper relationship “did not involve a member of the Navy...” I tend to agree with you about females on ships, but that must not have been the case here.
