SAN FRANCISCO: Supervisor wants motive spelled out at S.F.'s antiabortion clinics
San Francisco Chronicle ^ | 6/6/11 | Katie J.M. Baker, Chronicle Staff Writer

San Francisco would be the first city in California to require that crisis pregnancy centers prominently disclose whether they are antiabortion facilities that don't offer comprehensive health care, under legislation being developed by a city supervisor.

Critics say that despite giving the impression that women facing unplanned pregnancies are offered a full range of medical services and counseling, many of these clinics try to talk patients out of terminating their pregnancies and do not provide any care or referrals beyond limited prenatal and postnatal services.

"Legislation is a priority because there are clinics using misleading advertising tactics," said Supervisor Malia Cohen, the measure's author. "Women need and deserve to know the whole truth about their health care options."

Cohen said she is working with NARAL Pro-Choice California to develop the legislation that could mirror laws adopted in Austin, Texas, and New York City. Those cities require the centers to post signs at their entrances and in waiting rooms informing women whether they provide abortions or contraception, if they offer referrals for such services and if licensed medical professionals are on staff.

On a related note, I'm sort of surprised that San Francisco hasn't opened the nation's first "Anti-Gun Store" that only appears to be a gun store until you walk in and they start showing pictures of det chilruns who've been tragically killed by America's appallingly easy access to handguns, and so forth.

"Why, THIS isn't a gun store at all!" you'd shout while walking out, dismayed at their trickery and refusing to accept their anti-gun literature.

No problem as long as planned parenthood is also required to provide full disclosure - which would include a financial statement showing their “clients” how much of PP’s annual income is derived from performing abortions.

"No problem as long as planned parenthood is also required to provide full disclosure..."

When pigs fly. I guarantee the SF ordinance will specifically target facilities not performing 'abortion procedures' or some such language.

The liberal way: maximimze baby death by any means necessary so that women can be free of this man-induced parasite. Makes me sick to know there are people who make the expansion and support of this despicable act their life's mission.

Legislation is a priority because these days, every politician needs some way to justify their existence.

Which PP won't do and neither will your bill. I guess you're not concerned about racist genocide either.
