“Knowledge doesnt necessarily display intelligence.”
Perhaps, but it’s a certainty that a lack of knowledge and a lack of intelligence are real negatives in a president. And one who evidences interest in running the country ought to know the basics of that country’s government. Federalism is what this country was at least nominally founded upon, even if it’s out of fashion these days except to a few adherents—even here on FR, evidently. If a candidate can’t recognize some of the most egregious infractions against Constitutional federalism perpetrated by the SCOTUS as of late (or more likely, that candidate pretends to ignorance and claims he’ll ‘answer that after some more research’), it’s pretty likely that they have intentions to continue the chain of offenses once elected. Every time the candidates don’t have to discuss it, they don’t have to answer questions about it, it’s a lead pipe cinch they’re going to be signing treaties selling our Constitution down the river, or something like that.
