You have to wonder very seriously if these people are insane.
The San Diego-based group that is laboring to get circumcision banned in San Francisco has perpetrated a comic book. In it, a superhero named Foreskin Man saves a baby boy from being circumcised by the evil Monster Mohel, a vicious-looking Orthodox Jewish rabbi who could have been drawn by an acolyte of Joseph Goebbels.
Indeed, Foreskin Man has a distinctly Hitlerian “Aryan” look to him.
It’s crystal clear from the dialogue that the perpetrator of this literary opus intends to depict the Judaic religious view of circumcision as evil and repulsive. The “comic” hauls out every theme of Jew hatred in the arsenal.
Note that these circumcision-haters could have addressed the issue as one of science, medicine, personal autonomy, or even just a social issue on which reasonable people can disagree.
But they didn’t. The case they’re making is that circumcision is evil because Jews do it as a religious observance.

Why does anyone care about this except parents of newborns, or the one actually being circumcised?

There was a contingent of fired-up feminists ranting about female circumcision for a few years - all that oppression of wymen and such. Then, the left found soulmates in the radical Islamics after they killed thousands of Americans on 911 and they knew that they couldn’t have internal conflict with their factions so the big narrative had to be changed to satisfy all the kooks simultaneously. Ergo, male circumcision (and female circumcision by unspoken connection to keep the harpies happy) becomes the evil d’jour; Islamofascists are let off the hook to stay busy dreaming up ways to kill Americans and destroy our nation; and, finally, the Jews can be cast as inhuman monsters who love to mutilate baby boys.

I’ve been on some gay blogs - not lesbian blogs, mind you, gay men blogs. Do lesbians actually have a voice in the world of gayness? Anyway, some are saying that banning circumcision will set you on the road to banning religion. Stupid and puerile as always but the agenda is to ban religion. Then no one needs feel guilty about any activity deemed disgusting. How these guys think they are going to “ban” religion - something that is hard-wired in most humans - is beyond me. But they are often not the brightest bulbs on the circuit. The loudest and most obnoxious, yes, but not the brightest.
