The crowd that gathers in New Orleans each year for the Bayou Classic (Grambling vs. Southern University) is only marginally better behaved. The event is always touted as an important tourist draw, but the truth is that the hotels barely break even - despite room rates that are the highest of the year. Such is the extent of the property damage that is usually inflicted.
I live six miles from Grambling State University, and I would like to speak in defense of the faculty and students of that institution. I'm just an old white geezer, but I never hear of any kind of "urban" behavior around this area. Every day, in stores and other public places, I see white and black people talking and laughing together with good will. I suspect that the crowds that cause trouble around the football classic are like those that used to trash downtown Dallas during Texas-OU weekend: Most of them never set foot on either campus.

We’re not supposed to say certain things, but, I sense a pattern here. Certain types of people are expressing themselves in a manner which scares others. But, in this case, those who are frightened are the bad people because they are racist, bigoted, etc. Certain types are allowed to do whatever the heck they want, because of the legacy of slavery, liberal guilt, etc??????
I would love to know when it was decided that certain types of people became exempt from any standards of civilized behavior.
