WASHINGTON (AP) - A White House official says Michelle Obama is heading to Africa on an official visit later this month, stopping in South Africa and Botswana where she'll continue her efforts to encourage young people to get involved in their societies.

The first lady also will visit Johannesburg and Cape Town in South Africa and Gaborone, Botswana during the June 21-26 trip.

The official said Mrs. Obama's visit will highlight the important stake the U.S. has in the success of Africa's many nations, as well as the historic connections between the American people and those who live on the African continent. President Barack Obama's late father was Kenyan.

Wow. You haven’t noticed the difference between this regime’s foreign excursions and those of the Bush White House? Do a review of the differences, then see if you still are unaware.

Now, now. Moochelle is so burdened down with trying to make America into something to be proud of that every 3-4 weeks she deserves a vacation. Geez, give her a break. You should consider yourself privileged to contribute your tax dollars.

When is the last time they visited their house in Chicago?

Their home? Oh, you mean that mansion his name isn't on and that he doesn't pay taxes on but gets to deduct those taxes and mortgage payments. Remember when the libs got their panties in a wad when W would take a weekend trip to his Texas ranch. They nit picked over each and every dime spent and criticized him from leaving the office of the president unattended.

"How is Michelle’s trip any different?"

Mrs. Bush's trip, as most of her trips overseas were tied to health issues: AIDS/HIV and Malaria and to promote support for her husband's Federal Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief. She also traveled overseas to encourage better opportunities for women, especially Muslim women.

What important issue is Moochelle's visit tied to? It's basically to encourage young African people to become community organizers.

I am very aware of the financial condition of the United States. I am very aware of the fact George W. Bush inherited a balanced budget. On his inauguration day the national debt was $5.7 trillion dollars. On Obama’s inauguration day the national debt was $10.6 trillion dollars.

Perhaps Laura’s and Jenna’s African trip to publicize the $15 billion in aid our President Bush extended to African AIDS projects was a critical to our nation’s future and important enough to borrow from the Chinese to fund.

For what it is worth I’m disgusted by the billions wasted by all Presidents, not just the one who happens to be in power at the time. Obama can be blamed for much and I believe his direction for the country is wrong. However, George W. Bush is also responsible for many of the issues we face today. He inherited a balanced budget and ran up almost $5 trillion in additional debt, nearly doubling the debt from when he came into office. He failed to use his veto power to reign in spending. He and his Secretary of the Treasure Paulson bailed out the Wall Street bankers in 2008 allowing them to raid the Treasury, keep their jobs, and collect billions in bonuses courtesy of the US taxpayer.

With respect to my family situation I lost two non union jobs during the Bush years thanks to the “free” trade policies that resulted in manufacturing operations going to China. Over the past decade, this country lost over 20 million manufacturing jobs thanks to our open market policies trading with nations that openly restrict American imports, ignore intellectual property rights, subsidize exports, and manipulate the value of their currencies. Perhaps some would argue our nation is better off without those middle class manufacturing jobs and the 9.1% unemployment we enjoy today.
