While they may need to be phased out, these older/greedy/selfish folks had no choice but to pay for their entire lives, with the expectation that they would get what was promised. Money that could have been saved/invested was taken from their pay and was figured into their retirement years. It's a crap-shoot about whether they take more out than they put in, but if they had the opportunity to invest it their whole lives, they could be wealthy and independent, or be broke - either way they would have had a choice. To deny those of a certain age of their rightful due is more insanely selfish than those you rant about.
If you make lay away payments for a big screen TV at Wal-Mart, then are told to suck it up because the rules have changed, I'm sure you would also turn into a greedy selfish bastard and insist on getting what you paid for.
That is why I hope we collapse at this point. We deserve it and earned it with the type of thinking that we should just continue these ponzi schemes at the expense of young and working people.
Very true, the seniors today ARE entitled to what they were promised by the banditos of the ruling class.
The scheme needs to be stopped. Stopped from creating fresh victims. Starting now, we should assure those who’ve been vampirized, “You’ll get returns commensurate with what you were forced to pay,” while taking the pledge to rob and raid no more.
You are probably thinking, “That’ll never happen.” Two ways to make it happen: widespread tax rebellion (”You’re cut off!”) and protest demonstrations (”And we mean it!”)
Which is to say, if nothing is done, it isn’t the legislators we should blame. It’s us. It isn’t their spinelessness. It’s ours.
The biggest problem is the seniors fully trusted the govt and trusted Liberal dem’cats who even today continue to stand by these proven ponzi schemes.
Liberals Lie, and everything Liberals touch and really want have a 100% failure rate...without exception.
Walmart layaway-—not so much.
Well said, trebb! (refer to post #13)
Younger people being envious or angry that seniors want and expect to collect their promised Social Security after a lifetime of forced contributions to the fund, are as guilty as the liberal’s wealth envy.
The government stole those funds over the years and used them for vote buying schemes. Rather than directing anger at the seniors, it would be better to direct anger at the government and expect it to pay back what they stole. A good start at paying back the looted fund would be to stop sending massive amounts of “aid” money to counties who hate us anyway.
