Hollywood! I don’t live far from the base, and the elevation out there is around sea level. Highest point at N.A.S. has to be the old light house, which I believe is just under 200 feet elevation.

Highest area near Dodge City must be the bluff. I think “Little House on the Prairie” was also filmed in the same area they used for “Gunsmoke”. Both series were, topographically, a darn mess.

As most Westerns from Hollywood. That's because most were filmed in Southern California. The Lone Pine wilderness East of the Sierras was a favorite location as well as other sites nearer Hollywood.

I recall the movie "The Searchers" with John Wayne. It was supposed to be in West Texas after the Civil War. But it was filmed in Monument Valley, AZ which is nothing like West Texas. I've been to Monument Valley. That's not farm country.
