And keep in mind that the cost of a feeding tube is at least somewhat offset by the fact that the person doesn't have any other food and beverage expenses. Exactly. What we're REALLY looking at is the DIFFERENCE between a year's supply of food for that person and the cost of tube feeding.
And that year's supply of food cost is going to vary greatly depending on how they shop and how much convenience food they buy, and how many meals they eat out at a restaurant, or in other public venues.

I eat out A LOT, spend a lot of money on expensive cigars and overpriced "toys."
Being on a feeding tube might actually be cheaper than my current lifestyle and I've got disability insurance that would replace over 90% of my income.
