"Probably just leasing it"

From the story: "It was bought for $100 million from Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen in February." How did you calculate the odds?

The article does NOT say that Trump bought the plane, only that it was bought from Allen.

I am VERY familiar with aircraft leasing...often a customer will shop for an aircraft, then have a leasing company buy it for lease. Other times the customer buys it, then sells to a lessor for immediate lease-back. Other times, the customer has an in-house company buy it and lease to the original entity.

There are ENORMOUS tax implications in owning vs leasing.

I owned a business aircraft market research company for 25 years, reporting on leases, sales, etc. Many of my customers were lessors, such as CIT Group, GE Capital, Cessna Finance, B of A, and many others. Big bucks, big business.
