Put them in the military.
Ever been in the military? That's the last thing the military needs.
Things were bad enough when non-criminals were being drafted into the military. Forcing ex-cons into the military would be even worse.

I met quite a few people when I was in the Navy who enlisted because they were given a choice, at sentencing...”Military or Prison.”
While I don’t know how that “program” worked for the military, I do think that it wouldn’t work today, because being in the Military is a GREAT career/job. There are far more applicants than there are openings now. It’s not unusual for people who enlist to have to wait up to a year to go to boot camp.
In the 80’s Military I think it would work, but with cutbacks coming, it wouldn’t work today.
