Is it me, or does this sound a lot like the Boeing 787 move? You can bet there will be all sorts of unions, community organizers, Democrats, and other thugs that "won't allow" these companies to move.

Why would any new company set up shop in California?

Is it me, or does this sound a lot like the Boeing 787 move?

They just signed a deal to build a brand new warehouse/distribution center in Tennessee creating 1600 jobs in the process. The state tried at the last minute to condition approval of the deal on Amazon collecting state sales tax. Amazon threatened to find a new location. The state relented. And TN is a right-to-work state.
