What we are seeing is a social tend caused by market pressures.
People WILL survive, and they will try to live as best they can while doing it.

I'm single (divorced) and have never relied on anyone but me. During this period I've sold guns and other items and as I mentioned family has been a great support. I interviewed for a job a few months back and I saw where I stood...'older' woman...not jumping for joy etc etc. But as you said, we will survive. No TV here...electric/water has gone up 75%...I live like a bat now. But I will survive. If everything collapses it makes no difference, we'll all be in the same boat. Then we can cull the herd.

In the meantime, breeding has come to a standstill among those that think about tomorrow (at least in a financial sense); the biggest unpublicized change is that we now have a birthrate that rivals Western Europe’s (at least among American citizens). That is how cultures die; the election of Obama signaled that we are close to the edge. Not a massive bloodletting or anything like that; we have simply morphed into something unrecognizable to someone who lived through WWII.
