I say that because other conservatives with similar policy positions don’t have anywhere near the negatives that Palin does. Take Michele Bachmann for instance.
For me, it’s the fingernails-on-the-blackboard voice that does it. Get her a little agitated and she turns it on reflexibly. Get her more than a little agitated and she turns into a hysterical harpy.
She reminds me way too much of my ex-wife screeching at me to do this or that chore when a rational tone of voice would have gotten much better results.
It’s not helpful for female politicians to make male voters think of their ex-wives.
I suspect that the largest reason for objections against Sarah is due to misogyny. I see that in Krauthammer's objections to her. He would never have the same objections toward a male candidate.

Firstly, those polls are not to be trusted.
Secondly, her high disapproval numbers are due more to something mentioned in the article—”Stories abound, all negative, about this American citizen whose message resonates with ordinary citizens yet doesn’t conform to the current political and media template.”—than to anything she has said or done.
The media have been red in fang and claw since 2008 in their attempts to dirty her reputation, and some people have been taken in.

I will say this: the voice she uses to address screaming crowds is not her normal voice. Her normal voice is actually quite nice. Whoever is advising her to use that voice should be fired immediately.
