You can’t refute the fact that as a nation we are diminished and weaker by off-shoring STRATEGIC production of things as vital as steel for the pursuit of “sufficient profits”. Steel can be made cleanly and safely by non union employees for a profit-IN THIS COUNTRY. So, as an American, any company that gives up, even though there was still profit to be made, are simply traitors. There is no other way to look at it. Since you support this situation I consider you a traitor. So if you want to continue the discussion go ahead. But know how I view you position, and how it disgusts me.

You don’t seem to grasp the fact that market forces dictate most moves in the economic world. Products are made where comparative advantage dictates maximum profit. Older industries are and have been driven out of the nation by environmental laws and regulations on industry.

Production which remains within our nation will be concentrated upon new products which American industry has traditionally created for the world. We create the New then teach the world how to make it cheaper than we can and we move on to the next innovation. This is called the “Export Cycle”. Free trade fosters that innovative spirit which has driven America to the height of wealth and power.

You should also be aware that the US constitution defines “treason” and nothing you complain about meets that definition. Private resources are not entirely under the control of the federal government and are not allocated to suit your personal preferences or mine.

Nor should you confuse an analysis of how things develop with approval of them. One of my political goals is to develop a society wherein individuals can maximize their potential to create wealth. This will also maximize the nation’s.

Trying to protect the past should not lead to destroying the future. Capitalist development is a process of creative destruction wherein the old is destroyed in creating the new. That destruction is unavoidable.
