WASHINGTON Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) released the following statement today after voting against a $2.4 trillion debt limit increase with no spending cuts or budget reforms attached:
We can not consider raising the debt limit without substantial cuts in spending and a systemic change in Washingtons spending culture. It is easy to simply continue spending and borrowing. But our government has done that for too long. Almost nine percent unemployment and over a $14 trillion national debt is proof that throwing money at every problem is not a viable solution.
Congress has a responsibility to the American people to rein in wasteful spending. My generation elected the officials who made the irresponsible decisions to excessively spend and borrow. Therefore, todays political leaders have an obligation to solve the nations debt problem and not simply pass the burden onto our children and grandchildren. Every child born today already owes $45,500 in debt they did not create. High debt means a future of high interest, high inflation, and low jobs.

I post this since he deserves recognition for holding the line despite strong pressure from the GOP RINO's to compromise.
He also voted NO on extending the Patriot Act, and is one of the few who has no been co-opted by the DC beltway cocktail drinkers.
Way to go, Morgan!!!
Thank you, Congressman!
Would that we had more people like Congressman Griffith! Those were two strong votes for liberty and freedom.
God bless him.
We need a SENATE filled with these types of patriots. Good job.
“He also voted NO on extending the Patriot Act...”
Did he? God love him for that, too!

To try to find how Congress voted.
The site is so convoluted and filled with crap that I cannot figure out where the vote tally is.
Does anyone have a direct link?

‘Breaking’ action in the House is best found here IMO: http://clerk.house.gov/floorsummary/floor.aspx
Thanks!
May his common sense spread to his fellow freshmen. Clearly this Rep understands the tide that swept him into office.
I’m very pleased with Griffith, still excited by his come from behind win.
Though this was mostly a ‘kabuki vote’ ... nonetheless.
Heard a Fox guy (can’t remember his name) saying that the U.S will not default on it’s debt, BUT will stop payments for Medicare and Soc Sec.
So this is the threat. Pass it or we’ll turn an angry mob against you.
My question is WHY would they do that and not SHUT DOWN GOV AGENCIES THAT ARE NOT NECESSARY FOR SURVIVAL. EPA, INTERIOR, IRS, ETC ETC.
Next round, they will all vote YES. This is fraud on their part. They just want to boost the number of NOes on their scorecard.
