The sixth day of Casey Anthony's first-degree murder trial, which concluded late this afternoon, gave jurors a glimpse of the day her 2-year-old daughter Caylee Marie was reported missing.
The prosecution continued to question Anthony's mother, Cindy Anthony, who cried and was clearly distraught during her several-hour testimony.
Jurors heard the three 911 calls Cindy Anthony made, and also heard the first jailhouse phone call Casey Anthony made to her family.
Cindy Anthony broke down in tears and slumped her body, nearly disappearing behind the stand, during playback of the 911 calls. Casey Anthony listened stone-faced and wiped a few tears with a tissue.
Casey Anthony, 25, is accused of killing Caylee Marie in June 2008. Caylee's remains were found in woods near her family's home in December of that year.
One of the 911 calls gave jurors a glimpse of how hysterical Cindy Anthony was the day she found out Caylee had been missing for a month.
"I found my daughter's car today and it smells like there has been a dead body in the damn car," Cindy Anthony told the operator.
Casey Anthony also spoke with the 911 operator. In a calm and collected tone, she identified a babysitter named Zenaida Fernández-González as the person who last had custody of Caylee....

It gets weirder:
On cross-examination, defense attorney José Baez questioned Cindy Anthony about several people he called his client’s “imaginary friends.”
Cindy Anthony remembered Casey Anthony mentioning these people, but she never met them.
Baez listed these people as: Jeff Hopkins, an alleged Nickelodeon employee who worked at Universal Studios; Hopkins’ mother Jules, a cancer survivor, according to Casey Anthony; as well as Juliette Lewis and her daughter Annabelle.
He also asked if she ever saw the alleged babysitter, Zenaida Fernandez-Gonzalez or her roommate Raquel Ferrell.
Cindy Anthony said her daughter never produced pictures of these people. Casey Anthony also spoke of Fernandez-Gonzalez’s mother Gloria and her older sister Samantha.
“She talked to me about Zanny’s life like she was one of her friends,” Cindy Anthony told Baez. “I just found out that they are imaginary.”
What that poor child went through, getting duct taped by he Mother(allegedly).
Malignant narcissistic sociopath, if she gets off she’ll do it again. Everything is always about her, 24/7. That poor little child only existed in Casey’s world as a satellite to reflect her own glory. One wonders if she didn’t chloroform her and leave her in the trunk repeatedly so she could party all night. Her mother even consulted a therapist who told her to get hold of the child and then go to court and get permanent custody. It seems as if that might have precipitated things. God help that family.
This woman is a hard wired sociopath.....
...that's all there is.....
SPECULATION:
Casey’s dad had molested her as a child.
Casey’s mom learned to live with it.
Casey got involved in drugs, and the drug source may have taken her car, and Casey, and killed her. Which would explain why her car smelled like death, and why her Dad had to search for it.
Dad covered up for Casey ( because of his guilt over the little secret between them), and he helped her cover up for this. The killers may have taken her and demanded money. Maybe Casey’s dad thought he could find the granddaughter without involving the police, and he ended up wrong.
The only reason I mention this is that I find it still fits with the facts of the case, and yet no one has seemed to have even considered it.
At what point did we as a society stop caring about perjury? Either the parents or Casey is perjuring themselves and everyone just shrugs their shoulders and accepts it? When did we get to the point where someone is allowed to make up a fanciful story in order to try to avoid punishment and that not be wrong? I’m not saying that I’m completely doubting the possibility that Casey is telling the truth, but it is incredibly unlikely considering the fact that the 911 calls, the text messages, and just about everything she’s said and not said up until this point contradicts her?
Maybe it was the OJ trial. We as a society now just accept these defense strategies and don’t press charges for perjury after they’re found guilty. And is there ever going to be a point where you can’t find a defense attorney willing to put up one of these fantasyland defenses? They know they’re committing perjury and face no punishment themselves?
Sorry, the evidence doesn’t support this theory.
It’s obvious. Casey is a narcissist sociopath who saw her daughter was in the way of her fun young single life. It was all about her and Caylee was in her way. She killed her daughter and has no remorse.
I hope she gets the death penalty.
Casey didn’t have imaginary friends. It was just lies. All the friends were just a bunch of lies. I’m guessing most people who knew her didn’t want to be friends with her.
Im good friends with Jose Baez. He is doing his job protecting her constitutional rights. The jury will what’s appropriate within sentencing guidelines..
If, by chance, she is convicted, her excution could break box office records on pay-per-view.
“”The only reason I mention this is that I find it still fits with the facts of the case””
What facts of the case? The defense attorney hasn’t proven any of his statements/allegations - those are not facts. He admits his client is an unrepetant liar and has presented her lies to the court - nothing more.
She’ll never get the death penalty. Too white, too middle class, too young, too hot and too nuts.
Interesting comment from a forum poster at the original source:
“Unfortunately, The Death Penalty just keeps Casey segregated from the other prisoners as she gets one Appeal after the next. Living on Tax payers dollars. Caylee can’t appeal her life sentence.
If she gets life, Casey will be with other prisoners, who don’t take kindly to Baby Killers. She just might meet with some Jailhouse Justice for Caylee if she lives with other prisoners.”
The babysitter Zanny = Xany = Xanax. Its likely that the child was frequently under the care of Xany the nanny while mom partied, but eventually succumbed to an overdose.
I too think it was an overdose. Casey is a skilled sociopath. If she had a premeditated plan to kill Caylee, she would’ve cleaned up the evidence better.
I would have a hard time giving the death penalty in a case where the cause of death is undetermined.
No he’s not doing a good job. The jury saw Cindy Anthony in agony yesterday. Cindy came off as genuine and truly caring for Caylee. Baez treated her harsh unnecessarily. Lawyers don’t want to make the jury dislike them. Baez is not doing a food job of making himself be disliked. Not good.
His defense is also ridiculous and dumb. It would have been a better defense had he claimed Caylee had accidentally drowned. All this other stuff, George Anthony being involved, molesting Casey when she was young, Kronk finding the body and moving it to where he found the body, etc.. is over the top and not believable. If I was on the jury Baez’s case would clearly be lacking credibility.
Casey put duct tape over Caylee’s mouth and nose BEFORE death occured. Accidental overdose I can’t believe because I see no reason for Casey to have put duct tape over her childs face other then murder, the non accidental kind.
It’s undetermined because Casey dumped her daughters body in the some woods near her home. She cared so little about her child.
