IMHO, Spice commodity pricing going through the roof has as its basis other factors:

1. The terrible weather conditions in China - specific to Garlic and vegetables.

2. California's over-regulation of their former Ag-business' virtually forcing them out of the state - specific to Garlic and Vegetables.

3. Increased affluence in China and India which have relatively recently made the transition from Survival cuisine to finer foods thus driving spice consumption.

In other words - don't stock the freezer with beef because black pepper doubled in price - but pay attention because ALL AG prices are going to go up.

Well...with what YOU said, then I’m looking brilliant, because I’ve been stocking up on food since November 2008...figuring this is what would happen with a commie/socialist at the helm.
