Actually, I would disagree with the last statement.
The Venona Papers, available to Ann Coulter when she wrote Treason but not to Bill Buckley when he wrote his second consideration of the McCarthy era 10 years earlier (he'd written another book back in the 1950's iirc), make it clear that McCarthy's accusations were fully substantive and true.
All the cases where McCarthy "bullied" people -- shame, shame, cried the lying liberals (who knew better, Ann points out -- they knew) -- he was correct and right to be tenacious in his questioning, and the only reason he could not drive his stakes into the enemy's hearts 275 times was that he knew it was important to protect Venona and the NSA.
Ann makes this point over and over -- McCarthy was fully correct and morally right, and his enemies knew it, but they drove him out of public life and into an early grave anyway. (He was dead at 49.) Now there is a flowering of evil for you.
And liberals did all this, she tells us, because their pwecious pwogwams were too impowtant to the countwy to let Republicans like Nixon and McCarthy derail them!
</Truman Capote>
But since George McGovern (himself a delegate at Stalin's rump convention that nominated Henry Wallace in 1948), Jimmy Carter, and Bill Clinton brought the New Left to power in the Democratic Party, the Stalinist cabal has been hard at work, and Obama is their payoff.
Of that there can be no doubt.
p.s. I have "Blacklisted by History," but I have to read it. As I've practically finished, "Rush Limbaugh, an army of one," I'll be able to get to M. Stanton Evans book soon.
