The parents of a tragic Brooklyn tot savagely mauled by his stepdad's pumped-up pooch often left the boy alone with the killer dog, neighbors said Sunday.
"He had no chance," said neighbor Sabrina Ramos. "I don't know how someone would leave a child that small with a dog that big."
Neither Jayelin Graham's mother, Saquina (Honey) Jubeark, nor his stepfather, Damian Jones, have been charged in the boy's horrific death late Friday.
Investigators say the brutal pooch - a 65-pound Cane Corso named "Machete" - chomped down on the 4-year-old boy's throat after his mom left him and his siblings alone with the animal.
Jayelin died from injuries to his right carotid artery, larynx, trachea and esophagus, said the city medical examiner's office.
Neighbors say Jones, 29, trained his dogs to be killers.
"The dogs are vicious," Ramos said. "I wouldn't stand outside with that big one around. I wouldn't let my child outside if that dog was out."

So they let the dog babysit the kid? That’s how the article reads.
And so far no charges against the mother who left the children, at least three children, alone in the apartment with the animal.
The biggest shock to me in this story is that Jayelin’s mother, Saquina aka Honey, was married to Damian, step father and responsible pet owner.
Or maybe I’m more shocked that Honey/Saquina let the stepfather keep a dog like that in her house knowing it was trained to be mean. Or that she left her children alone with it either way.
Or maybe I’m not shocked at all.
Neighbors say Jones, 29, trained his dogs to be killers.
A sign of cultural regress: An unmarried, very likely never married mother’s live-in bed partner of the moment becomes “step-father” to her children.
According to the article, the dogs weren’t trained to be mean, they were trained to be “killers”.
Is that a typo?
Jones has a rap sheet with busts for weapons possession, kidnapping, endangering the welfare of a child and reckless endangerment, records show.
Still waiting to hear of some news of savage attacks by those packs of feral chihuahuas.
Darwinism in action.
which tells me this dog was not well cared for or handled
I would rarely leave my 4 year old unsupervised out of earshot with my large guard dogs
you just never know
my 11 year old dummy teased my male ABD 3 months ago ...and that dog hasn't forgotten...he is still wary of the boy and will growl if he feels threatened....they are both getting trained
i have left my 4 year old in locked running car with handbrake up with my ABD...ain't nobody gonna open that door but me...if I run into a 7-11 at the gas pump
I had a lady stick her nose in my business and tell me my “child was in the car” and tried to open the door...I yelled at her...don't even try lady if you want to keep that arm
it's just what you deal with
every large dog I have owned in half a century has shown aggression to people they feel threatened by
knowing if one will go berserk on a kid is usually accompanied by all the risk factors that are expounded here on these threads
if those are present then the dog should go to the country or be shot
my female bully tolerates little from her “boyfriend” but she is gentle with people unless strange males
but she is hell on wheels against her reflection in glass ..i would not stick my hand out there when she is going to town
it's just so sad that our weakest and most precious are most at risk with dogs much like anything else...damn

Well never mind that, he be one fine-ass stud!/sarcasm
Live by the thug, die by the thug.
Let’s be fair - pit bulls do have their uses — such as guarding meth labs.
nothing funny or witty or pithy about a 4 year old child torn to shreds by a raging animal
when you grow up one day you'll look back and know what an ass you were
On the other hand many Americans murder their babies before they are born..
>>i have left my 4 year old in locked running car with handbrake up with my ABD.<<
Would it be possible for the dog to bump or catch his collar on the ‘unlock’ button when it is in the raised position?
I have nothing against pitbulls
But if I want a guarding dog, I prefer something bigger.
I’ve owned all the traditional big breeds...pits and these newer Mastiff styles like Corsos and Presas and Dogos and so forth just weren’t around in my early days
I loved all my big dogs...I would say my Dobie was most alert though and smartest.
American Bull Dogs are just big family dogs but dangerous if riled.
Shepherds and Rotts..well there is a reason they get so much real work isn’t there?
Gian Schnauzer...helluva dog...incredible really..but expensive.
If I lived in the middle of nowhere cold I’d have a Caucasian Mt Dog...now that is a dog
