LIMA, May 26 (Reuters) - Right-wing lawmaker Keiko Fujimori may be pulling away from leftist Ollanta Humala 10 days before Peru's June 5 presidential run-off and a gaffe by a top aide has not hurt her, a poll showed on Thursday.

Fujimori, who is backed by the business community and is the daughter of imprisoned former President Alberto Fujimori, had the support of 52.9 percent of respondents, the pollster Datum said.

Humala, a former military officer, had 47.1 percent support when null and spoiled mock ballots were excluded in a simulated vote organized by pollsters, according to the nationwide survey published in newspaper Peru 21.

The poll of 1,214 people conducted on Sunday had a margin of error of 2.8 points. Fujimori's lead widened by about a point to 5.8 points from the previous poll conducted May 16 to 18.

Humala is another Hugo Chavez wannabe. I hope she pardons her father.

Is she considered “Hispanic”?

That’s good news. Everyone in Chile hopes she can pull this off. Humala, the Chavez wannabee is a very dangerous man. If he, with the help of the “operatives” and large slush fund Chavez has given him can cause ballot fraud HE WILL! Also, look for Chavesita/redshirt riots if he loses!

I’d expect riots as well, no matter how large her margin of victory. She’s said she’ll bring the matter of pardoning her father to the courts, rather than do it by executive order, as she now says was an emotional declaration from a while back.

"I hope she pardons her father."

Dad was no angel.

But yet another cuadillo. The "strong man" that Latin voters habitually fall for in a swoon.

None of this portends well for El Peru.

The history of the Japanese in Peru is fascinating. WWII rendered a lot of Japanese absolutely destitute. They were offered a little bit of farm land in exchange for immigrating there. They basically controlled the country within a generation.

Not that it matters, but what is your definition of “Hispanic”?

Dad was no angel.

Not true. The claims of human rights violations are from the left who are upset that he used military force to crush the Shining Path. We need to stop accepting leftist propaganda when they talk about other countries as well. By leftist propaganda, I mean not only communist literature, but also what we see in NYT and WaPo. We reject their propaganda against us, why should we not do the same when it comes to other countries?

Many people, especially those race obsessed on the left, view “Hispanic” as a race. It is not. It is an ethnicity and Hispanics can be of any race. The Fujimori family, both father and daughter are good examples of this.

First off, I commonly see examples of racial obsession across the political spectrum. But you are correct, Hispanics are defined by language and basically nothing else...
