Andrew Sullivan this weekend seemed to shock Chris Matthews when he said that former Alaska governor Sarah Palin could actually beat President Obama in next year's elections running as the "principled candidate" representing "this grassroots movement of cutting government down to size."Maybe even more surprising, Time's Joe Klein seemed to agree telling the host of "The Chris Matthews Show," "You were around in 79 and 80 as I was. Did you see many people in the Carter administration think that Ronald Reagan could beat Jimmy Carter?" (video follows with transcript and commentary):CHRIS MATTHEWS, HOST: Does anybody here really,

She’s really a beautiful woman with the Joy of the Lord emanating from her as well.
Fascism/communism/socialism/totalitarianism is on the march in the progressive administration we now have.
As for homosexualism, many of us are tired of the in your face, we are victims, we want special privilege, we insist your children be indoctrinated into believing homosexualism is as valid a basis for marriage as heterosexualism, agenda being pushed through our government. Homosexuals have every privilege and protection of the law, and it is never enough. To force people to give up their own religious beliefs and accept what they consider the unacceptable is infringement on religious freedom. Homos have legal unions. If they want to call it marriage, let them. Many of us will never agree that they should be sanctified by a church supposedly based on the Bible.
Palin is very knowledgeable about energy. If not president, I want to see her running the energy dept.---Seriously, what do you and the media et al have against a woman who is educated (not Ivy, of course--that's a rub with many), hard working, knowledgeable, especially about energy, a proponent of family, full of love of this country and full of the energy needed to run it.
vaudine
They ALL think Sarah can beat Obama:
Why else would they have such a virulent hatred for her?
Did they actually say this? I realize that it could be sarcasm but this is also something libs would actually say.
Oh, Vaudine: you need to read my post again. I, in no way, support Andrew Sullivan’s position on the Divine Sarah. I was simply - in satirical fashion - imagining what dark thoughts he thinks.
Again, I was being satirical. I thought for sure most conservatives on FR knew that men like Sullivan think Sarah’s about to build gas chambers for gays if she’s elected.
NO! He didn’t say this on air (anymore than he has EVER said on television that he doesn’t believe Trig is Sarah’s baby). But I can assure you that in my theatre world, gays certainly do believe such things. In fact, it’s practically a party game with them to think up evil things about her. They did the same thing with Anita Bryant. But Sarah’s no Anita Bryant.
Thanks for clarification, I only asked bc like you said: we know they think it.
That’s OK. If you think you took it wrong, check out Vaudine’s screed!
Well, as the old NY playwrights of the 20’s used to say when asked for the definition of “satire”: satire is what closes Saturday night.
I’d say that’s a pretty good take on it.
Tina Fay, “ I can see Russia from my house.”
Sarah Palin, “I’m gonna be able to see the
Washington Monument from my new house.
YEAH BABY! YOU BETCHA!!!!
Really hard to have parody with real live copyrighted movies, and the little short woman with her back turned is Whoops, she would take please in smacking down a conservative.
Very interesting.
