HAMMOND | Four federal agencies are probing an alleged gun-running scheme involving Lake County Sheriff's Department personnel.
Current Sheriff John Buncich said he stripped six officers of police powers Tuesday, the same day federal authorities raided sites in a case Buncich claims he prompted after taking office this year.
The guns allegedly sold include weapons owned by the county, or confiscated during arrests, the source said.
The officers on leave are Capt. Marco Kuyachich, Lt. Michael Reilly, Sgt. Joseph Kumstar, Officer Ronald Slusser, Officer Edward Kabella and Officer Scott Shelhart.

Sure they will go after a county sheriff’s office but what about the frickin’ BATF and their gun runner project. Is anyone going to go to jail for that? Probably not huh? Maybe if we get a conservative President into office and an AG that isn’t up to his a** in illegal projects himself we can start prosecuting some of the feds.
Well, this will certainly bring out the cop-haters (and gun haters). /sarc
We’ll they did show they have the qualifications to be good BATF agents.
Maybe the BATF was in on busting them for horning in on BATF functions?
Well they do operate like a Union.
