We’re all guilty of that particular sin.
10 years running windows without a problem here. Run anti-virus once a week, run malware bytes once a week.
Keep your computer and installed software updated using automatic updates if possible. Adobe is especially important as its frequently used. I only install adobe updates through the program menu and not from a pop-up.
I’m probably lucky, drift. Because right away, AdAware hit me with a notice that it was trying to prevent the installation.
Something’s telling me that if my AdAware wasn’t up to date, I wouldn’t even be able to post this measly thing on freepers.
But this thing ran by my system like Pac-man gobbling up those little dots. Scary stuff.
I think you hit the nail on the head regarding adobe. As I poke around with my limited ability today, I’ve come to learn that the adobe updates that I’ve been pestered about(and putting off) were to close a glitch in their software that was allowing this particular Trojan to get through.
Guess I had this coming. ppfftt
It seems to me (and I would put myself into the long time but not very savvy computer user) that there has been a HUGE uptick in virus/trojan/malware in the past two or so years. I never had problems until pretty recently and now...sheesh its been nuts.
