That's because IT'S ILLEGAL TO. The USPS has a legislated _monopoly_ on 1st class mail delivery.
Over the years MANY companies have attempted 1st class mail delivery, and were very successful & profitable in doing so - until USPS weighed in and threatened criminal charges.
Not possible -- the stamps I just bought say "Forever" on them.
