"AUSTIN, Texas — Gov. Rick Perry today ceremonially signed House Bill 15, which requires a woman to have a sonogram before electing to have an abortion to ensure she is fully informed before making such an impactful decision. The governor designated the measure an emergency item for the 2011 Legislative Session. He was joined by Sen. Dan Patrick and Rep. Sid Miller at the signing ceremony.

“Every life lost to abortion is a tragedy we all must work together to prevent, and I commend Rep. Miller and Sen. Patrick for their hard work on this significant legislation,” Gov. Perry said. “This important bill will ensure that every Texas woman seeking an abortion has all the facts about the life she is carrying, and understands the devastating impact of such a life-changing decision.”

No one ever said it was. Getting a sonogram, is mandated health care.

I think this a good step to prevent more slaughter of the unborn. One of the few legitimate functions of govt. is to protect innocent life.

If killing innocent humans was healthcare I would agree with you.
I see this as regulating Supreme Court mandated death camps when their prohibition supposedly violates the constitution.

It's only mandated if you want to kill a child!
It's not like the Texas legislature wants to regulate health care.
This is just the only way to reduce the killing of innocent people that will hold up in court.
And many women have changed their minds after laying eyes on the baby.
This is well documented, which is why Planned barrenhood opposed this legislation.

Not sure if that thread explores it later on but we had several investigation threads where we demonstrated Christen was NOT a Planned Parenthood director as claimed. She was the director of an adoption organization that a decade after she left, was taken over by Planned Parenthood. The original charge regarding Planned Parenthood was traced to a group named something like Families for Alaska which only seemed to have one or two members. The founder also had a blog called Alaska Pride that linked to some pretty disturbing websites similar to Stormfront. Christen also does not have PP on her resume nor could we find any confirmation from PP about her involvement.

IE, the Christen attack was another false smear. Unfortunately in the age of the internet the lie went around the world so many times before anyone found the truth. By then, it was far too late, it was ‘common knowledge’ that couldnt’ be counteracted.

The only two position I have a problem with Perry is illegal immigration and NAFTA!

Otherwise he's a good Conservative and Governor of the state with the best economy & employment in these tough times.

I dunno know for sure, but I bet Rick Perry would not borrow Billions from China to give to the muslim brothahood!

Pls tell us which perfect Conservative are you supporting or which you'd like to see run against Barry?

I don't like Perry denouncing the AZ illegal immigration bill and I don't like him supporting NAFTA but I'd vote for him for President in a heartbeat!

Pre-abortion sonograms save lives. All those involved in passing this informed consent law should be applauded. These are the type of people who instead of wringing their hands about the unlikeliness of Roe v. Wade being overturned, actually got to work and made a difference.

God bless all of them!

Doesn’t a person have a legal right to refuse a medical procedure, which I also think may be radiation, and also unnecessary testing.

There is NO radiation involved here. A sonogram uses sound waves.

Will you stop with the whining about cost. This will cost very little and is worth it.

Women do not know the full extent of what they are doing. If they look at that helpless baby inside them and still want to do that, they will be free to do so ... until we can change the law.

But if it wakes some of them up ... it will be well worth it.

Not true with the new machines that can show a 3 week old gestation. The majority of abortions are not preformed until atleast 5 weeks so this should not even be an issue.

Wrong once again.Statics say that 9 out of 10 women who see an ultrasound will not go throguh with an abortion. This knocks the line about it just being a a mass off cells right out of the water.I person0ally don’t care about the cost I care about the babies.

This about Gov't forcing you do undergo a procedure. You cannot opt out, no matter how noble the cause.

Gov't will have the ability to force you to take vaccines, and other things for the children, without exception, religious or otherwise.

It is already against the law to murder. Charge people who perform abortions. But, don't dictate what medical procedure someone has to have.

Don’t be fooled by Perry. He wanted illegals to have in state tuition, voted for mandatory Guardisil injections and many other things. He is a former Dimocrat with MUCH baggage.

Well...........the GOP has NO ONE. If Sarah doesn’t run and Perry does run........Perry’s got my vote, so far. There is NO ONE else, thus far. This will make it less stressful on voting day, believe me :>
