They do seem hell bent upon defeat, but that is something I would expect of them as defeat or as they might call it “moderation” means they get to keep more of their power.
Do not expect federal politicians to want to give up power, expect them instead to desire to sabotages or water down their own efforts.
The only reason they are doing this at all is cause we have given them the impression that they personalty may lose reelection if they don’t. But ultimately they know we can only enforce that impression based upon what little we can see from the backseat. That means they in the driver seat can and will take advantage of all the “detour” to slow themselves down towards that goal of giving up power they really don’t want.
