However, I'd bet that the press would keep their powder dry during the primaries, so they could blow her out of the water during the general.

I wouldn't bet on that.

They have been attacking her since day one.

Not just the MSM.

Rove, Cameron (before she surged in popularity, Carl Cameron gave a hateful little monologue insulting Palin), Hannity (he will provide the venue anyway), O'Reilly (hates women, treats them condescendingly, tried to loofah one, paid her off, hush money) Romney's people (spread lies about Palin, probably still are) McCain's people (ditto the Romney treatment, even while she was VP nominee) and it goes on and on.

Sarah Palin is the greatest threat to the established beltway GOPers ever to come along. Not to mention the beltway dems.

They will (and are) work(ing) together to use what ever dirty vicious hateful tricks they can conjure up to get her out of the way.

Restoring the USA to the Constitutional Republic it is declared to be would put them out of business. (you know, tax, graft, waste, cronyism, etc etc)

The dems know she is the only one that can defeat the anchor baby Present Obama, so they are doing all they can to destroy her.

Plus the handful of clueless FR posters that repeat the mantra that she can't be elected doesn't help either.

Her enemies (who scour FR day and night) will pick out a dozen or so of those posts to "prove" that Free Republic doesn't support Palin.

Kinda like little man big ego O'Reilly pulled some stuff off of FR to "prove" it is a hate site.

I think he did that because FR exposed him for what a horrible person he is some years ago.

I put "all" in the "to" field because I kinda went on and on...

I disagree on that, actually. There are others who could win, simply because Obama is so beatable. But the beltway insiders (Dem and GOP) want to ensure that if Obama does lose, it's to one of their own "establishment" candidates who won't rock the boat too much.
