Fighting Evil from Within

Say No More! By Ari Bussel

Israel’s enemies, so it seems, are all her own.

Haredi Jews demonstrated outside the AIPAC meeting, saying the State of Israel is an abomination of the Torah. They were members of the same sect who traveled to Iran to hug President Ahmadinejad and support his quest to prove the Holocaust never happened.

A Code Pink Jewish lady disturbed Prime Minister Netanyahu’s speech before a joint session of Congress.

The “peace activists” wearing “Free Palestine” shirts and waving flags that rose to disturb the AIPAC dinner earlier the same week.

Jews for Peace in Los Angeles who went out into the streets to lament the Nakba, the great disaster of the very formation of the State of Israel.

Hundreds of Israelis who signed a call for the establishment and recognition of free, independent Palestine even before the September vote by the General Assembly of the United Nations.

Even the main Opposition Party in Israel that calls for dividing Jerusalem to allow for the creation of the capital of Palestine in that holy city.

Or the editor in chief of the major Jewish publication in Greater Los Angeles who, to this very day, thinks Israel was at fault and should have behaved differently when a bunch of mercenaries, hooligans of the worst type, embarked on a terror convoy to knowingly and purposely break a maritime blockade Egypt and Israel had placed over Gaza.

It gets worse. Israelis going to demonstrate against their own country at the Gaza border, instead of against the Hamas terror organization constantly launching rockets at their cities and schools, and a major Israeli publication giving a platform to its senior reporters to call Israel the guilty party. There is no need for a Judge Richard Goldstone (a Jew) to declare Israel guilty of war crimes when Gideon Levy calls Israel’s actions in Gaza a “bloodbath.”

There are many other examples, too numerous to enumerate, of Israelis and Jews fighting against the Jewish state. Their work is very effective, and their modus operandi always the same: They stand up and claim, “I am Jewish (or I am Israeli), or I am a son or a daughter of Holocaust survivors, and …” It is this preface that in their eyes legitimizes their lies to the unsuspecting audience.

And say they do. The next sentence immediately attacks the Jewish state, the Zionist enterprise, the Biblical connection to the land and the very right of Jews to exist in their own homeland. The attacks are oftentimes well articulated and always vicious. Israel has no right to exist, they say. Everything Israel does is bad. Israel needs to be punished, severely. They fail to find anything positive in Israel and only target Israel. Not the Egyptians, Libyans, Syrians, Iranians, Sudanese or others who actually bring evil to the world; only Israel.

They prepare the ground for whatever will come next—from targeting civilians to launching thousands of rockets to the full acceptance of the idea that the Jewish state must be annihilated, obliterated off the map. All means justify this goal, from homicide bombings to burning people alive (as long as they are Jewish).

An astonished audience refuses to believe. Why? Why would sane human beings fight their own people? Is Israel so evil in its ways that they may be right, that we simply do not see? And it is this seed of discord, the lies told often enough, the repetition of the absurd claims trying to rewrite history and create one blood libel after another distortion that make us doubt ourselves. And the sanity of our own people.

Make it a point to check at the next demonstration, look at the next disturbance and read the material being handed out. You will discover that Israel haters arise from within, and thus they are effective. They blame and insinuate, malign and distort, accuse and judge all at the same time. They start “I am a Jew (or a descendant of the Jewish People), or I am the son or daughter of Holocaust survivors, and ….”

When you hear this opening phrase next, reply strongly, forcefully:

“SAY NO MORE. THERE ARE ENOUGH ISRAEL HATERS. IF YOU WANT TO SAY SOMETHING POSITIVE, WE ARE WILLING TO LISTEN. OTHERWISE SILENCE! YOUR HATRED HAS NO PLACE WITH US!”

We must vomit hatred from our midst. These Israel haters can do no good and spoil every fertile plot. They spread lies, destroy and bring discord and hatred. They should be uprooted the minute they are recognized.

It is up to us to respond and to act against their lies and attacks, lest they overcome us with the viciousness of their own self-hatred and loathing.

The series “Postcards from America—Postcards from Israel” by Ari Bussel and Norma Zager is a compilation of articles capturing the essence of life in America and Israel during the first two decades of the 21st Century.

The writers invite readers to view and experience an Israel and her politics through their eyes, Israel visitors rarely discover.

This point—and often—counter-point presentation is sprinkled with humor and sadness and attempts to tackle serious and relevant issues of the day. The series began in 2008, appears both in print in the USA and on numerous websites and is followed regularly by readership from around the world.
