Who did they hire at the Whitey House to take charge of protocol? Al Sharpton or Alfred E. Newman? I wouldn't direct any blame at the protocol staff. The State Department and the White House both employ professional protocol officers. These people are paid to know what to do and how...and to fully brief the President and the First Lady on such matters.
It is evident that neither is listening. Or even wants to hear what the protocol officers have to say.
