Did Honda ever get rid of the oil pump drive shims that wear down, allowing the oil pump drive gear to drop out of alignment with the camshhaft gear which drives the pump?

When that happens (because the oil pump gear is harder than the camshift worm), the camshaft gear (and the camshaft) is destroyed. Happened twice with my older Accord -- filling the engine with metal chips each time...

I haven’t had that problem. I replaced the front axle for 75 bucks and changed the tranny fluid which IS a definite requirement for these guys every 50,000. Timing and hoses every 100,000.
