OK, say the US “stole” the Southwest. At least let’s be consistent:
How did Mexico/Spain get the Southwest from the Apaches and Commanches?
(They “stole” it.)
And how did the Spanish get Mexico?
(They “stole” it.)
And how did the Aztecs get (the valley of) Mexico?
(They “stole” it.)
How far back does returning “stolen” property go?
(This goes for Hawaii, too—which the USA “stole”.) How did Kamehameha get all the islands? He “stole” them. Maybe each island should be made independent again, under its own separate monarchy, as it was before he “stole” the other islands?
you can take anything you want in this world, the question is... can you keep it???
Exactly the argument I use. One group stole someone's territory and killed them or chased them away. If those losers were lucky, they could find some weaker people and kill them or chase them away. Eventually, the weakest warriors died out or got the crappiest areas no one else wanted.
I ask people, "How do you think those Peruvians got into farming on the sides of mountains? Did they say, 'Hey, lets go way the hell up there are see if we can grow food!' No, someone probably chased them there but they were clever enough to figure out how to survive."
And the eskimos. "Hey, let's go live on ice. What a great idea! I've always hated dirt and grass and warm temperatures."
