A man believed to be fugitive war crimes suspect Ratko Mladic has been arrested, an official from the Serbian interior ministry has said.
"He has some physical features of Mladic. We are analysing his DNA now," an unnamed official told the Reuters news agency.
Local media said police are carrying out DNA tests on a man who identified himself as Milorad Komadic, who was arrested on Thursday.
Serbia's war crimes prosecutor refused to confirm or deny the reports, but Boris Tadic, Serbia's president, will hold a press conference later on Thursday.
Mladic, the Bosnian Serb wartime army commander, is wanted by the United Nations war crimes tribunal for the former Yugoslavia for genocide during the 1992-95 Bosnian conflict.
His arrest is seen a precondition of Serbia joining the European Union.
Same thing happened to me earlier this morning. It happens here sometimes.

Not by us... we had no business or National Interest in that fight... the europeans had major interests in that fight and we bailed the europeans out just like we are doing in Libya... another place we should not be involved in.

I’m no fan of the “World Court,” and I would hope that Serbia or Bosnia would (fairly) prosecute the war criminals themselves.
Check your history. Rape has been a war crime for over a hundred years.
“Serb vs. Croat?
Im sure it started over religion but somewhere it turned into tribalism -like we see in ireland.
I doubt the killing in recent decades has anything to do with religion - but more with nationalism and retribution.”
I doubt you slightly even know what happened in former Yugoslavia if you didn’t live there. Sorry to tell you but your “church trip” can’t possibly exploit you to everything.
I’m not sure what got you going. Where did you see me claim I know what happened there?
You’re right about the trip - the Croats didn’t even come close to telling me the entire story.
You’re aware Serbs weren’t only killing muslims?
Unless, of course, you slavishly idolize Serbian ultranationalists.
That's an opinion you can express without the slightest criticism.
oh yeah - well we know that from all the old Milosovich (sp?) threads.
I’ve never claimed to be an expert for cryin’ out loud!
Less than 10% of Serbs and less than 20% of Croats bother to attend Divine Liturgy or Mass each Sunday. And fewer than 20% of Albanian Muslims attend weekly prayers or even observe the prohibition on alcohol.
It's a great spin to pitch it as a religious conflict to Americans and Arabs - both sides got lots of mileage appealing to overseas religious sentiments.
But basically all the wars involved mostly atheist nationalists killing other atheist nationalists.
Don't worry. There will be plenty of self-proclaimed experts happy to chime in and tell you what to think.
yes - I’m sure no one is yelling “remember the filioque” as they shoot.

Here’s the thing, there is apparently sufficient evidence to conclude that Karadzic and maybe Mladic too were at best complacent and at worse complicit in the mass rapes that occurred in Srebrenica and of Croats on the SW of Bosnia too. If that is the case then indeed they need to be in jail forever just for that alone, regardless of whatever else they did or didnt do.
But it wont take away the fact that the Hague still gives new meaning to the word injustice. As has been mentioned, KLA lowlife jerkoffs like Hacim Thaci and Agim Ceku will never face trial for their crimes, which probably include sex slave and organ trafficking-the KLA was well documented to have done this. Bosnian war criminals were let off the hook with embarasingly light sentences; famed Bosniak general Naser Oric bragged about Serb prisoners and civilians he tortured with knives and iron bars and got about the same amount of jail time you’d get for robbing a supermarket. Ditto for Rasim Delic and Croat war criminals.
All Judeo-Christian people should want to see the Serb war criminals like Karadzic and Mladic punished severely, same for Americans, Israelis, Serbians and Russians and others when they commit acts of evil. That’s how it should be, our values teach us personal responsibility and accountability, very much unlike some peoples’. But global justice is indeed treating Serbians much like it has the Israelis for the past 6 decades, as a complete pariah for no reason whatsoever.
You are actually probably right about this; indeed there was no side in the balkans wars that was just innocently and harmlessly trying to protect their culture and religion-all sides used religion as an excuse to terrorize and torture each other and rape and brutalize each other’s women and destroy each other’s homes. At least that was the way it was before and during the war.
But after the war, it seems like there is a growing religious awakening but now religious values have been distorted and used to fervent even more hostility. Now misinterpretation of religious values has led to even more hostility and nationalism and nostalgia for the days of nationalist, hyper-racist war criminals. Just like throughout Europe, Africa and South America, often having strong profession of Judeo-Christianity just isnt good enough to stop prejudice and murderous nationalism. You need to strip away everything else and get to the heart of God’s word for the people.
” and when the zeta drug cartel is killing thousands of mexican citizens... hundreds of American citizens and control our southern border to the point that the US government has issued no go orders to stay out of parts of our sovereign territory due to enemy combatants holding the high ground there... I’d say we have a problem with US Government hypocrisy... don’t you think?”
Can’t argue with that.
“We have not brought Major hasan to trial and the Military is hiding him away because they do not want the truth of how our own Military has been infiltrated by the enemy.”
True.
I’m just not sure what it has to do with Ratko.
Anytime there is someone who would round up innocents - massacre them and leave behind mass graves - isn’t it a good thing when they are brought to justice?
There are few innocents in the Balkins... if any... maybe the children... but it is none of our business... just like telling Israel that they have to capitulate to hamas and hezzbolla... and if hussein could do what he really wanted to do... he would try the Israelis in the Hague... just like they are doing to the Serbs.
LLS
I disagree with you there - I think there are alot of innocents there - and rounding up unarmed innocent villagers - children among them -murdering them? Well - I haven’t an ounce of sympathy whatsoever for this beast.
Whether it’s our business or not is a good point.
If my memory serves me right - Clinton justified our involvement with something like “WWII started in this area and if we don’t do anything about it now we will be witnessing another holocaust...”
And the press fawned over his brilliance didn’t they?
