Sure thing. I grabbed a PDF scan of a random book, in this case the classic Extraordinary Popular Delusions. In the upper right hand corner of the page you can download the PDF of the book (it's public domain, so don't worry about the feds busting down your door).

Go to the title page (page 11 of the PDF file) and zoom in on the letters. Notice that the two A's in "Extraordinary" and the A in Popular are exactly the same down to the individual pixel. I copied them both so you can see more clearly the cloned letters.

I've noticed that these cloned pixels seem to show up in scans that went through some OCR (optical character recognition) process.

For example, these come from a blog that provides OCR-processed documents for searching. I opened the first link and found numerous examples of cloned letters

This is proof that these cloned letters are not evidence of tampering, but in fact a product of the OCR scan. It makes sense that you would want letters as uniform as possible.
