Dempsey is a surprising choice because he began a four-year term as Army chief of staff just last month. Service chiefs have rarely, if ever, been promoted to JCS chairman so quickly

I thought Corporal Max Klinger or Private Bradley Manning were in the mix, knowing this administration, or maybe Sergeant Bilko or Private Gomer Pyle.

This was the guy Obama appointed Army COS instead of Gen. Petreus?
I've always thought Petreus should have gotten the honor of Army COS after his outstanding service. I suspect Barry sent him to CIA to deny him that.

One can only wonder what kind of “deal” Gen. Dempsey had to make to get such an offer.

I’d bet they checked his party affiliation and it was Democrat and I’ll also bet he supported DADT.
Perfect!

Knowing how deeply Obama relies on manipulating the information flow to the public, I would suggest there might be something about this nomination that needs investigating; the information is being released when Obama himself via his visit to Great Britain is dominating the “presidential” news, making this COS nomination a mere footnote that will be given very little attention.

Cartwright was passed over because of Marine Corps opposition to repeal of DADT.
Unlike Marines, soldiers are completely supine.
