Would like to see a reference on this one. Marx was married and had six children by his wife.

Yeah, I think Ann's wrong on this one. Marx did have a maid, Helene "Lenchen" Demuth, by whom he may have fathered a son (Engels is another strong candidate), but she wasn't a slave from the age of 8. She had been a servant in the home of Marx's wife, starting at age 17. When Marx and Jenny von Westphalen married six years later, she joined the Marx household. She's buried in the same grave with Marx and his wife.
