A series of messages forwarded to The Daily Caller show a top aide to former Alaska Gov. and possible presidential candidate Sarah Palin mocking top political figures and even her bosss own daughter, Bristol Palin.
RedState.com founder and CNN contributor Erick Erickson is a total douchebag, wrote Palin speechwriter and domestic policy adviser Rebecca Mansour in a May 22, 2010, message. Greasy dumb ass with a talent for self-promotion. He threw himself in at the Govs SC rally. Self-promotion. (Erickson said South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley invited him to the rally).
Mitt Romney supporters are wacky as hell, Mansour wrote, but usually Romneys presence online is just an AstroTurf brigade.
Would love to tell Mitts lackeys to stop backstabbing my boss anonymously, Mansour wrote.
Then-California Senate candidate Chuck DeVore wants to be the next Hugh Hewitt (or Huckabee). He knows he cant win. He wants to become a personality. Give him a show to go away, Mansour wrote. Palin endorsed Carly Fiorina over DeVore in the GOP primary for the race, angering some conservatives.
Mansour sent these embarrassing and revealing missives as direct messages on Twitter to an online-only acquaintance approximately a year ago. The person who received the messages forwarded them to TheDC.

I am so totally okay with that. ;)
While I am for real, no foolin' grateful for Ace's able assistance, here...
... well... let's just say he's suffered from his own recurring bouts of PDS in the past, and perhaps leave it at that. ;)
Yeah, about that... these were more like emails, sent through Twitter. None of this was on the public Twitter feed. It's like FReepmail vs. postings on the forums -- one's private communication, the other is public.
While anything you write on the internet can indeed come back to bite you, I got to agree with Ace (linked above) that it takes a total douchebag to publish private messages unless there is a legitimate newsworthy reason to do so. (And even then, you're probably still a douchebag for doing it, but with some form of justification.)
There's nothing newsworthy in all of this, especially since we're only seeing one side of the conversation, which makes some of the context questionable. It's also not timely, as the messages they're discussing were from a year ago. Why leak them now?
Tucker Carlson gave the go ahead to publish, so he’s the responsible party. Mansour betrayed Sarah’s trust and that’s the crying shame. No wonder she is so very hesitant to trust anyone outside her family. This was all completely unnecessary and never should have happened.
Oh, absolutely.
But frankly, there's nothing particularly damning in these messages, and this whole thing is a tempest in a teapot. Mansour will hopefully have learned her lesson (for her own sake, as well as for any ongoing working relationship with Palin) and no real harm was done.
I’m not suprised by RAM. I think it was in ‘09 she wrote a post over at C4P and gave her thoughts on Bristol. Let’s just say RAM got an earfull in the comment section.
“Mansour betrayed Sarahs trust and thats the crying shame.”
Onyx you are so right with the above observation.
I read Red State...it has some good information. As for Eric Erickson, the man is a self-aggrandizer totally into the he said, she said, “I’m” dong this, “I’m dong that” game. And then he came out with some scathing remarks ‘to’ the so-called ‘birthers’. When I wrote a little ditty response, saying thanks for your disrespect and you are but ‘one’ person’s opinion when there are several ‘million’ asking the big question...well I got banned from even reading the site.
I wrote him a note and said screw you, I can read on the many other sites better information than listening to your ‘he said’/’she said’ krap. He lifted the ban. I seldom read his krap anymore. I find Moe Lane amusing, but with more substance and better thinking skills.
As for this Sarah Palin/Daily Caller tittle tattle, RAM has opinions...so what? It’s not a requirement that a person can’t express an opinon to whomever they please. Sounds to me like most of hers are spot on.
And I agree, that you’re nasty remarks about her appearance were just that, nasty remarks. So you have a dislike of her appearance. I suspect you’re no Magnum PI yourself.
Anybody recall the antics of MD4Bush? Part of that whole mess was using FReepmail to generate then collect "dirt" on a FR member (NCPAC).
Red State had its own purge some months ago, or several.
Some of the more interesting posters who left were Achance and Vassar Bushmills.
I lurk at Red State but only post once every few months, so I don’t know all the details.
But I have noted RedState has removed “birthers” and “Paulbots” and doesn’t seem too fond of Sarah Palin enthusiasts.
That’s one of the main reasons why I left as well. I have suspicions about the Obama birth certificate and I support Palin. Both seem to be frowned upon
at Red State.
Your mileage may vary.
“Is she young and part of the whole twitter-I-am-in-Starbucks-restroom-taking-a-number-2 generation?”
Marvelous description of this generation. I will have to remember this. On another note, I am not a big fan of Palin, but I must say this stuff, along with her top aide’s book, is pretty damn weak.
