The remains of former Chilean President Salvador Allende were exhumed on Monday to clarify whether he committed suicide, as the most accepted version affirms, or was executed during the coup that established Augusto Pinochet's dictatorship in 1973.
The act, which was ordered by Judge Mario Carroza, took place in the Allende family mausoleum at the General Cemetery in Santiago as part of an investigation that opened in February when, after almost 38 years, the causes of death of the former socialist leader amid the bombardment of the Presidential Palace on September 11, 1973 are being sought.
Upon their exhumation, the remains will undergo some preliminary tests before being transferred to the premises of the Santiago Medico-Legal Service where they will be analyzed by Chilean and foreign pathologists.
The most accepted version until now, maintained through statements from witnesses and an autopsy performed by the forces behind the coup, is that Allende took his own life in one of the halls of the palace with a rifle his friend, Cuban leader Fidel Castro, gave him as a gift.
But doubts were reinforced in 2008 with the release of a forensic report on the first autopsy, which determined that his body had two different bullet wounds that could not be attributed to suicide.
Pinochet's dictatorship, which lasted until 1990, claimed over 3,000 victims.
I always thought it was a good use of an AK-47. Thank you Castro. Now they want to disprove it. Poor Fidel. Just can’t stand the thought...
There’s a third theory, that says that Allende was murdered by one of his Cuban bodyguards because he wanted to surrender.
Nope, no bias there, no sir.
Gee, no bias here, right?
How does that compare to the number of Casto's victims? Or those of Hugo Chavez, both of whom took reasonably prosperous countries and turned them into third world sh*tholes.
Pinochet, OTOH, took a third world sh*thole and turned it into a prosperous country.
According to National Lampoon magazine at that time, Allende shot himself in the back 27 times pausing once to reload and was a victim of a self-inflicted air strike.
Or something like that.........
This is a post from a blog titled “Swimming Against the Red Tide”:
Salvador Allende’s sad ending: He was fund-backed by KGB and got killed by a Cuban Agent!
A new book, about to be published in France “Cuba Nostra - Les Secrets D’Etat de Fidel Castro” by Alain Ammar has destroyed a very-well constructed myth by the left: The assassination of Salvador Allende in Chile while he was being toppled by Augusto Pinochet. This article by Eduardo Mackenzie (updated: it was translated by me to Media Without Mask website) has a brief on the book.
“The fact is that Allende was not a suicide, he was not killed by the military that took the power in september, 1973. During their assault against La Moneda palace, Chilean president was cowardly murdered by one of the Cuba agent that were in charge of his protection” says Eduardo.
Allende was frightened by the military and wanted to surrender. Before he could do this, he was killed.
It´s the second major attack on this leftist myth this month!
Early this month a new book by KGB archivist Vasili Mitrokhin revealed that Allende, and other leftist leaders in Latin America received money from KGB.
This article by Juan Tamayo explains who were helped:
“ The KGB documents record actual and proposed payments to Chile’s Salvador Allende totaling $420,000 both before and after his election as president in 1970.
Costa Rica’s José ‘’Pepe’’ Figueres received $300,000 from the KGB for his 1970 presidential campaign and $10,000 afterward.
Carlos Fonseca, founder of Nicaragua’s Sandinista National Liberation Front, was ‘’a trusted KGB agent’’ code-named GIDROLOG.
Nicaraguan Manuel Andara y Úbeda was a KGB agent who led a group of Sandinistas tasked by Moscow in the late 1960s to scoop out the U.S. border with Mexico for possible targets for KGB sabotage teams.
The KGB ‘’trained and financed’’ the Sandinistas who seized the National Palace in Managua and dozens of hostages in 1978. A senior KGB official was briefed on the plan on the eve of the raid, led by Edén Pastora, also known as Commander Zero. “
It’s the end to these old-time leftist myths in LA?
No. These events were not EVEN mentioned by Brazilian media.
Here in Brazil, we are still wearing Che Guevara shirts and believing in the holy santity of Salvador Allende.

Why?
Pinochet, OTOH, took a third world sh*thole and turned it into a prosperous country.
The Commies took a beautiful prosperous country and turned into an economic $-ithole. Too bad Pres. Pinochet only took out 3000 Commies.
Who cares? Good riddance!
I agree, it makes no difference. Chile still has a small hardcore Marxist element, 1-2% at most but they are organized and very loud. They’re a real PITA!
Lead poisoning...
