Netanyahu's rules of debate
Washington Examiner ^ | May 22, 2011 | Hugh Hewitt

f it had been a fight, they would have stopped it. Friday's showdown between President Obama and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu wasn't close, and it wasn't pretty -- though Netanyahu didn't want to leave any obvious marks. The end result was that our president is suddenly aware that Chicago rules don't work on tough-minded leaders of countries surrounded by terrorists.

Obama, like any thug, is a coward at heart, and Bibi put Obama where he belongs, in the dustbin of irrelevancy.

So the president's absurd declaration about 1967 borders is off the table. In fact, the table is gone.

LOL!

EXCELLENT
Loved it when Bibi nailed the uncomfortable tightly-wound adolescent Sutoro with his eyes and said (about the 1967 border inanity)

“It’s not going to happen, everyone KNOWS it’s not going to happen”

obama never had a father or man-figure who spoke to him that way, hence his smart-a$$ attitude toward everyone

GOP hopefuls- take note
No nice guys need apply for the job of GOP candidate 2012, please

“Netanyahu showed exactly how to respond to the prolixities and pauses of the teleprompter-dependent president.

First, let the president talk, and talk, and talk. (And talk.) His frequent rhetorical cul-de-sacs numb the minds of listeners and set up the opportunity for sharp contrasts between the definitive and the ambiguous, the purposeful and the feckless.

Second, look right at him when responding. This so unnerved President Obama that his anger and frustration was visible. Whether he brought the sense of superiority to the White House or whether it erupted there, the president does not care for people who challenge him directly, cannot seem to believe that anyone would have the temerity to do so. This is the sign of a deep insecurity, and Netanyahu used it.

Next, speak from specifics, using facts and especially history. Netanyahu used history to spank the president on Friday. A GOP nominee armed with specific references — not just to Obama’s many blunders but also to clear evidence of the American exceptionalism that Obama has clearly rejected — will put the wordy academic on his heels.

Finally, express core truths bluntly — especially the harshest ones, such as the nature of Hamas. The president has been shrinking from clarity for more than two years, whether it is clarity on Iran, on the butcher Assad and the nutter Chavez, and most recently on the key Palestinian problem — that Hamas, like Hezbollah to the north, wants Israel destroyed.”

This is how Obama likes to treat people that he finds detestable. He couldn't turn his back on Netanyahu though until the very end. He had to sit there for all the world to see and take it. Brings a smile to my face.

FR link: Burlingame After Meeting With Obama: He Turned His Back On Me

And Also:

Obama: “I don’t believe people should be able to own guns.”
FR Link

John Lott: If I can just make one other comment about my interaction with Obama in Chicago?

Dave Bose: Oh yeah, sure.

John Lott: And that is when he made the statement about believe that people shouldn’t be able to own guns, I said, “Well, maybe we can get together for lunch and we can talk about it.”

John Lott: And because I knew he was also supportive of the Chicago suit against the gun makers.

John Lott: He just grimaced and turned around and walked away and that was the end of the conversation. And that’s the way many conversations went that I had with him and I believe just in general he really disliked talking to people that he regarded as conservatives.

Netanyahu's take-down of the president should be on the TiVo of Mitt Romney, Tim Pawlenty, Mitch Daniels, Jon Huntsman (and, yes, Rick Perry if what I have been hearing is true). One of those men will be standing opposite the president in the debates of September and October of 2012,

Good point except that it won't be any of these men. Herman Cain's going to school obama during the fall of 2012.

Yes, it is a good article, but I think the author misses a more sinister point. Obama may be the naive academic or he may be deliberating trying to stir up the conflict by telegraphing that the US will not come to the aid of Israel (”Israel must be able to defend itself by itself") and encouraging the Muslims to unify and end the Israel problem.

Barry Bassturd was clueless during the interview, he didn’t realize what Bibi was saying. When the 2012 debates come, he will be schooled on which lies and when to tell them. He will be listening for cues from his opponent upon which to hang lies he has memorized for the telling. The teleprompter and writer for same were not present when Barry Bassturd met Bibi and Bibi owned/pwned the punk.

I agree. This was about setting Israel up as the bad guy. I understand there was some mumble on the Sunday morning shows about Netanyahu disrespecting the President. I also believe Obama thinks he can use Israel as a wedge between Christian conservatives and more secular, libertarian Tea Party supporters. For the most part, Christians will support Israel. More isolationist conservatives may think Israel should take care of itself.

” Analyzing the Body Language of Netanyahu, Obama Meeting”

Thanks for posting. Interesting on many levels.

Liked the end handshake where it appears (to me) Bibi is pulling Obie over to his side.

Almost saying I’m stronger than you, and don’t mess with me.

” Herman Cain’s going to school obama during the fall of 2012. “

I really like Cain too. But, did you see him on Fox on Sunday with Chris Wallace? He didn’t know what “Palestian Right of Return” was. Gave a wishy washy answer that if Israel said it was ok then the palestians could return. Clearly had no clue on this issue. If he didn’t know, that’s ok but don’t bluff on the spot. His answer was horrible and it could be used against him.

Thanks for sharing. This one won’t make the nightly news....

Good to hear someone wake up after voting for him, and more importantly tell it like it is.

I heard about that but didn’t see it. I’m sure there are a lot of things that he’s going to have to be briefed on and brought up to speed. I don’t have too big a problem with that. It’s the things you can’t learn from a briefing like integrity, honesty and a love for this country that Herman Cain has in spades and for that he has my support. I understand he’s putting a good team together...he won’t take long to get up to speed.

Bibi v. Bobo, as 20-somethings:

Not only did Bibi serve in Israel's special forces, Bibi's brother, Yonatan Netanyahu, was KIA in the Raid on Entebbe, a hostage-rescue mission in Uganda in 1976.
