I’m not a fan of no-knock raids but they were developed to prevent drug dealers from flushing the evidence down the toilet before the cops gained entry. If there were ways of collecting flushed items before they hit the main line, these raids could be eliminated.

“I’m not a fan of no-knock raids but they were developed to prevent drug dealers from flushing the evidence down the toilet before the cops gained entry.”

Anything goes in order to stop those evil drugs, eh?

In the name of that logic, we have these no-knock raids, dog searches at any vehicle stop, confiscation of property based on any drug residue, and any number of other affronts to liberty.

The property confiscation has now become a revenue stream, and will only escalate from here. How’d you like to lose your car or boat based on cocaine residue on your money, or planted evidence? Or even some drugs that a passenger left behind?

The “War on Drugs” is unworkable, utterly un-American, and needs to be scrapped.

No because you don't understand the reason for the "raids" in the first place. It has nothing to do with evidence.

Their purpose is to terrorize the American citizenry, make us feel unsafe, make us feel controlled and helpless, and demonstrate that they can kill us whenever they want with impunity (so far).

The police are the equivalent of the Gestapo. Period.

It may have once been about flushing drugs.

But those days are long gone. It is about Power, and the ability to Make War on Citizens.

You are probably correct that small quantities of drugs could be flushed if the police don’t do a no-knock raid.

However, lethal force for a small drug seizure with only small prison sentences is not reasonable is most of the public’s view.

However, if there was a large presence of drugs, weapons, contraband, and electronic evidence at the house, there is no worry that it would be destroyed without the no-knock.

So what if they are flushed. They are still off the street and the dealer then has to explain the loss to his supplier.

Let’s just eliminate the raids. Then think of other ways
to stop drug use.

Lets see here, the government publicly welcomes in a conga-line of millions of illegals, a good percentage of which are bringing in thousands of *tons* of drugs every year, and we're supposed to be worried about what someone can flush down a toilet in a matter of seconds?

Are you joking?

This guy was treated like a violent mass murdering international terrorist that just brought down a 747 full of innocent people.

Ya better wake up America.

None of what they claimed they found at his house that was on the search warrant was "flushable". The sheriff is reporting they were searching for weapons and police uniforms. You can't flush those down the toilet.

There are ways of doing this. You flush UP the line with pressurized water, and then block the line before it hits the sewer split. It’d be far more effective than shooting and hoping it beats the flush, and far less likely to damage a property you can RICO if the criminal is dealing in it, anyway.

But fear of flushing wasn’t why they used SWAT and then shot him. They no-knocked and shot him because they thought he had guns. Take whatever lesson you want there.
